Description

Mid 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan villa with lower service wing to rear; subdivided. Squared and snecked sandstone rubble; coursed stugged ashlar with polished ashlar dressings to entrance elevation. Raised window surrounds; tall narrow windows; eaves cornice. W ENTRANCE elevation: advanced corniced doorpiece in centre bay; panelled door; plate glass fanlight; single window at 1st floor above. Tripartite windows to both floors in bay to outer right. Bipartite windows to both floors in bay to outer left.

N ELEVATION: flat-roofed garage adjoining; blank above.

S ELEVATION: bipartite window at 1st floor.

Lying pane glazing pattern to sash and case windows; plate glass to 1st floor window to outer right. Grey slate piended roof; shouldered and corniced wallhead stacks to N and S; moulded octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1991.

BOUNDARY WALL: low wall to street with pyramidal capped terminal pier to S; high mutual walls.

Statement of Interest

The NMRS drawing shows that a pitched roof was originally proposed and then to a piended roof.
