Description

Later 19th century, 2-storey and attic terrace of 12 2-bay villas with unusual Frenchfield dormers to mansard roof. Yellow sandstone ashlar dressings. Base course, dividing band course, bracketted cills as part of cill course, cornice. Fillet-moulding to window surrounds at segmental-arched (including dormers). No 1 with pilaster quoins and long and short quoins at 1st floor.

PRINCIPAL ELEVATION (S): each villa comprising architraved segmental-arched doorpiece in bay to outer left with keystone and carved consoles supporting projecting cornice; single window above the dormer at attic. Full-height canted window to outer right, rising into swept French pavilion dormer above. Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roofs; lead flashing,coped mutual wall; moulded eaves guttering; some original rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 1991.

Low coped rubble boundary walls to street; cast-iron railings (obscured by hedges), gatepiers and gates.

Statement of Interest

It may be presumed that the swept French dormers were intended to bear decorative brattishing.
