Description

Large range comprising 2 linked properties of differing
dates and styles, unified by white rendering. Modern
shops to ground floors.
To left: circa 1800; 4 storeys, 5 bays with centre
entrance; regular fenestration 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors
excepting modern canted bay window to right, 1st floor.
Cornice between 2nd and 3rd floors, and at wallhead with
blocking course; centre panelled wallhead stack; end
gable stack and quoins to left. Slate roof.
To right: dated 1888; 3-storey, 3-bay with canted bay
window at centre, 1st and 2nd floors flanked by
pilasters. Channelled quoins; cornice and cill band
between 1st and 2nd floors; frieze, dentilled cornice and
balustrade with ball ornaments and end dies; centre
shell-headed pediments with datestone; end stacks;
slate roof.

Gordon Arms Hotel, known to have been in existence since

early 1800's. Appears on Wood's map of Elgin, 1822.
