Description

Thomas Mackenzie, 1843, incorporating earlier building probably by William Robertson. Ashlar with rusticated ground floor. 2 storeys, 6 bays with second and fifth bays slightly advanced as pylon features and broad giant anta pilasters at ends. Cornice and blocking course, carried up as parapets at second and fifth bays. First floor band course; aprons at first floor windows. Modern glazing at ground floor; 2-pane plate-glass introduced at first floor. At rear, courtyard with Roman Doric arch with scrolled consoles at sides (early 19th century doorpiece).

Built as National Bank of Scotland. Advertisement for tenders for considerable alterations and additions in 1843. Reused doorpiece at rear probably from earlier building on site. Former Item 30 (1983 Revised List)
