Description

Early-mid 18th century core, additions and alterations in
earlier and later 19th century. T-plan 2-storey and attic
house with pinned squared rubble north front, and harled
rubble elsewhere. Symmetrical 3-bay block with centre door
in north facing front; additional advanced gabled bay to west
with corniced bipartite in ground, floor, later 19th century
corniced window above and diminutive round-headed attic
light. Substantial projecting stairwell with piended roof in
centre rear; 2 later dormer windows. 2-pane glazing; ridge
and end stacks; slate roof.
Interior; simple interior, part shop, part offices, staircase
with earlier 19th century cast-iron balustrade with polished
wooden handrail.

Statement of Interest

Listed for historical associations. Said to have served as

dwelling for governor of Fort William, probably succeeding

former residence within compound of Fort.
