Description

George Simpson, 1913. Single storey red ashlar public
library on corner site, both street elevations
symmetrical. Edwardian baroque. Sinclair Drive
(entrance) elevation has 3-bay advanced ends, pilastered
centre, pedimented doorway; 5 regular bays to
Battlefield Road; continuous entablature, deep parapet
enclosing piended slate roofs; decorative axial
ventilator. Modern internal alterations have rendered it
open-plan; rear wing also modern.
Enclosed by low wall with intermittent piers, panel set
at angled street corner.
