Description

Later 19th century tenement, 3-storey over basement,
with Thomsonesque detailing. Polished (stone-cleaned)
ashlar; original plate glass sashes. Channelled ground
floor, wall areas between openings treated like pilasters
(main flat doorways with inset pilasters); 1st floor
windows with consoled hoods and disc friezes; horizontal
strings; deep main entablature; some canted bays;
stacks mostly rebuilt; modern tile roof. Cast-iron
railings to basement area and to steps (these are on
metal girders) are a Thomson design. Detailing
continued on return elevations.
