Description

Circa 1875-6. Astylar terrace of 3 3-bay villas, truncated at
W; 2 storeys, basement and attics. Polished ashlar,
channelled at ground. Steps oversailing basement to
tripartite doorpieces with glazed sidelights. Flanking double
leaf panelled doors, elaborate caryatid-term pilasters in
antis. Flanked by projecting windows; at terminal bays and at
No 2, 5-light canted window. Otherwise projecting square
windows. Windows linked in pairs by cornice. 1st floor
windows plain, linked by continuous cill band. Sash windows,
plate glass glazing. Disc frieze over doorpiece, band-course
at eaves, dentil course mutule cornice. Corniced axial
stacks, slate roofs.
Solid corniced ashlar parapet wall to steps; low cast-iron
railings linking squat square ashlar piers to basement. Pair
of decorative square ashlar gatepiers with coping and
cornice.
E flank: 5-bay; polished ashlar, channelled at ground. To
right 3-light corniced square projecting window at ground;
otherwise single-window sash windows. To rear, single storey
and basement addition with pedimented gable to E and 3 arched
windows, linked by continuous hood-moulds with occuli in
spandrels. Rear elevation droved ashlar with round-headed
dormers.
