Description

Circa 1872. Astylar terrace of 3-bay houses curving down
slope, 2/3 storeys with attic and basement. 6-bay shallow
advanced pavilions; bays arranged 6-9-6-9-6-9. Pavilions and
Nos 6, 8 and 10 3-storeys. Polished ashlar, channelled at
ground, partly stonecleaned.
At left, steps oversailing basement to wide consoled corniced
doorway with double-leaf panelled doors. At 1st floor to
right, corbelled 3-light bow oriel; corniced and with
balustraded parapet (at 2-storey range this continues roof
balustrade).
All 1st and 2nd floor windows architraved, sash windows,
plate glass glazing. Continuous band course over ground and
at 2nd floor cills. Eaves cornice; roof balustrade at
2-storey range. Blocking course over Nos 14, 32 and 34.
Various dormer shapes, corniced axial stacks, slate roofs.
Doorways at Nos 32 and 34 paired centrally. Tripartite
vestibule doors with acid etched panels and sidelight at Nos
10 and 12.
Flank to E: 3-bay detailed as above. Rear elevation coursed
stugged ashlar. 12-pane or plate glass glazing. Tall coped
rubble wall to rear lane. Cast-iron railings to front steps,
low rendered wall to basements with modern cast-iron
railings.
