Description

John McKissack and Son, 1899-1902, for the City Improvement Trust. Edwardian Free style warehouse, 5-storey and attic, 3 bays with centre bay emphasis. Polished red ashlar.

Modern shops to ground. Projecting canted bay to centre at 1st, 2nd and 3rd, basket-arched window at 4th. Single lights flank centre bay, round-arched at 4th. To 1st, 2nd and 3rd windows architraved with pediment form hood-moulds, alternately triangular or round-arched, 4th

floor windows have moulded archivolts. All sash and case with 2-pane lower sashes, small-pane upper. 4th floor has modern glazing.

Giant order pilasters flank bays from 1st to 4th. Moulded cill bands at all floors, deep mutule main cornice over 4th. Attic windows set in shaped gable with obelisk finials. 2 single windows with original glazing, above these, cartouche.

Brick flanks, tall corniced end stacks.

B group with 10-26 (Even nos) King Street. Part of large warehouse development at 10-26 King Street. Converted to artists studios, galleries, etc 2009.
