Description

Circa 1817. Three-storey and basement terraces, forming court with two arched pends to west, one blocked to east. Ashlar. Moulded cill band at first floor. Cornice and blocking course. North Side: 11-bay terrace, two boldly moulded Ionic pilastered doorpieces, that to east side with unusual elaborate wrought-iron lamp bracket. 12-pane glazing. Some interior work, including panelled shutters, survives. South side: seven-bay terrace, with modern lift projecting. Two boldly moulded Ionic doorpieces, that to east now a window. Elaborate wrought-iron lamp bracket to west doorway. Some 12-pane glazing survives.

Statement of Interest

Designed in unison with Nos 37-47 (ODD NOS) VIRGINIA STREET, (LB32795) and 49-53 (ODD NOS) VIRGINIA STREET, (LB32796) listed separately. The best surviving unified street and court complex of the period.
