Description

Circa 1855-58. E section of classical terrace block,

Renaissance detailing, 3-storeys and basement.

MAIN ELEVATION TO RUSKIN PLACE: 24 bays arranged 6-12-6,

outer sections raised and advanced. Polished ashlar,

channelled at ground floor with rusticated

pseudo-pilasters dividing bays. Coupled entries with Corinthian pilasters, corniced, balustraded parapet, each linked by

cast-iron balcony at 1st floor. Sash and case windows in

architraves; consoled, segmentally pedimented to 1st floor

outer bays, to inner bays consoled, corniced, pedimented over

2nd and 3rd doorpiece. 1st and 2nd floor cill band. Dentil

band, modillion cornice. Balustraded parapet over outer bays.

RETURN TO HAMILTON PARK AVENUE: detailed as main

elevation. 11 bays, 2nd bay and 4th bay at 1st and 2nd

floors blind. Ground floor channelled. Raised basement.

Ground floor cornice. Double return steps with

balustraded die parapet to raised ground floor at Nos 1

and 3. Pilastered doorpiece to No 3. 1st floor cill band,

2 outer and 2 central bays segmentally pedimented the

rest corniced.
