Description

Circa 1845. Long range of classical tenements, stepped
in gradual slope. Modern shop at nos 1185-1201,
original shop front at Nos 1203-1205 with pedimented
doorpiece and coffered entrance hall to back workshop.
4 storeys. Polished ashlar, rear elevation, squared
stone. All windows sash and case in architraves, mainly
8-pane glazing. Doric pilastered doorpiece at Nos 1213 and
1225. Plain ground floor entablature. 1st floor moulded cill
band; consoled and corniced or block pedimented windows some
with central rosette; Nos 1209-1231 occasional
projecting cills and sculpted apron panels with
rosettes. 2nd floor windows corbelled. 3rd floor windows
plain. Eaves cornice, blocking course. Corniced axial
stacks. Some modern glazing at E.

Originally Franklin Terrace. 1175-1183 recently demolished

above shops.
