Description

Dated 1857. 3-storey and basement classical terrace
block of 3-bay houses. (No 1 rebuilt 1965). Polished
ashlar, channelled at ground floor. All windows sash and
case in architraves, mainly 4-pane. Each entrance at head
of steps oversailing basement area; tripartite, console
corniced entries with sidelights Nos 2-11, console corniced
only Nos 12, 13; plain ground floor entablature; 1st
floor moulded cill band, alternating dentil corniced
oriel windows with sculpted corbelling and console
corniced single-light windows above entrances; 3rd floor
windows on corbelled, moulded cill band; plain eaves
entablature with dentil cornice, acroters; piended slate
roof; corniced axial stacks.
ELEVATION TO CLIFTON STREET: canted ground floor oriel
In southmost bay, tripartite bays above; 1st floor
windows console corniced on cill band; 2nd floor moulded
cill band; reduced wallhead stack.
INTERIOR: includes cast-iron balusters; corniced, cored
lightwells.
Cast-iron boundary railings on pierced parapet walls with
corniced piers.
