Description

T S Cordiner, 1959. RC church with presbytery alongside,
brick-built (buff-coloured). Slate roofs.
CHURCH: tower central to street, linked to body of
church in an imaginative way - on plan, gable walls
splay outwards to clasp tower (itself complex on plan),
deep-canopied entrance in splays, stepped tall narrow
lights above. Cross in tower, gabled top over metal-
screened belfry stage; flank elevations 2-storeyed
(church hall in at lower level with porch at west), large
upper windows separated by narrow fins which support
eaves. Big, steep roof. PRESBYTERY to east of church is
deeply recessed; single storey and attic, L-plan front,
door in gable. Plain gatepiers and metal railings.
