Description

Built circa 1880. Corner tenement, showing influence of
Alexander Thomson, domed and turretted corner bay to
SE, plainer corner bay at W, long elevation with stepped
ranges to Maxwell Road; 4 storeys; polished ashlar, part
stone-cleaned; mostly original sashes with 4-pane
glazing pattern; slate roofs; close-spaced single window
bays, pilastered at ground (except where replaced by
"Maxwell Arms" public house and modern shops), 1st and
3rd floors, also continuous fascia over ground floor;
deep frieze at 1st floor, continuous stepped moulding
links 2nd floor windows; deep main entablature, corniced
stacks, some rebuilt in brick.
