Description

Burnet Boston and Carruthers. Dated 1903. Large asymmetrical Scots baronial villa built of rock-faced Red ashlar with roll-mouldings, balustrades, corbelling, many cross-windows (plate glass sashes), turreted corner bays; low billiards room to N; open porch on W flank has open-topped bartizans and corbels; S garden elevation with advanced/recessed elements, octagonal turret left, dummy tower house right, steps to door set in chamfered angle of off-centre bay; service court to E on lower level of slope. Slate roofs. Interior has open hall with decorative plasterwork over fireplace, balcony above 1st floor hallway; much timber panelling (mostly oak); leaded glass panels including 2 large north-facing mullioned and transomed windows.

GATEWAY set at corner Sherbrooke Avenue/Springkell Avenue, also rock-faced red ashlar and with Scots baronial detailings; also stepped boundary walls to garden.

Formerly known as school of occupational therapy and returned to residential dwelling 2011.
