Description

Bruce and Hay, 1892-3. Ornate 2-storey brick office and
laboratory, wide-gable front to street. Off-centre left
aedicule doorway with "HH" mosaic and recessed demi-columns
under a segmental pediment. Cart entrance with original door
under concentric polychrome brick arches, off-centre right.
1st floor 2 round-headed bipartites, 2 oculi and 3rd in gable
head. Shaped skews and skewputts, ball finial. Dentil
corniced side elevations. Slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Hird Hastie and Co, paint manufacturers, still use their

original premises. Mill and filling rooms etc not listed

because of alterations after 1968 fire.
