Description

Survivor of a one-time pair of 2 school blocks; designed by David Thomson 1873-5; to Groulay Street, long 2-storey front with outer gables, large asymmetrically placed wing linked to near-centre gabled bay which may originally have had a belfry: mainly segmental-headed single or 3-light windows, some with hood-moulds; original horizontal glazing pattern. Stugged ashlar, polished dressings. Single storey Janitor's LODGE to SE with plain street elevation, presumably by Thomson also; (block to NW by Thomson and Menzies, 1894-5 demolished 1991); All roofs slated. Stone-built playground walsl, coping raised

at gateways to Grourlay Street.
