Description

Circa 1897 goods shed for Lanarkshire and Dumbartonshire Railway. Brick with contrasting red brick dressings and used in piers defining 6 bays. Wide gables to E and W with engine entry on S, arched smaller opening to N, oculus' in gablehead. Clearly defined bays with arched openings, to S all windows to N opening onto platform wth roof swept over to form canopy. Contrete tile roof.

Statement of Interest

Engine sheds are an increasingly vulnerable building type. This one with its contrasting building materials is a good example of the smaller type.
