Description

John Carrick, 1868-9. 2-storey, 7-bay, classically detailed former court and police station. Ashlar with polished dressings, channelled ground floor and quoins.

Central entrance with architraves and panelled pilaster strips to console-corniced doorpiece. Ground floor windows with voussoired lintels. Band course over ground and 1st floors.

1st floor windows architraved and corniced with aprons. Deeply projecting cornice and blocking course.

Rear brick ranges (perhaps later) with barred cell windows and decorative stack.

INTERIOR: elaborately plastered coved ceiling to court room with 3-dimensional rosettes and very elaborate ventilator rose.
