Description

Alexander Thomson, 1857-59. Large villa in Thomson's own individual Greek revival style and with extensive major interior work surviving; wing and outbuildings.

A remarkable composition, asymmetrical, comprising picturesquely massed single and 2-storey elements with deep-eaved shallow pitched roofs, tall lantern, incised and sculptured detail all in Thomson's characteristic manner. Ashlar, plate glass windows, sash and case, slate roofs.

Statement of Interest

One of Alexander "Greek" Thomson's most important surviving works, and a building of international significance. Former item 2 Cathcart Parish, Eastwood District.
