Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey 3-bay villa with classical details, modern extension to rear and E. Variegated sandstone, painted front of coursed rubble with Aberdeen bond and ashlar dressings, rendered to rear and W. Base course; quoin strips; ground floor windows corniced and architraved; eaves cornice.

N (FRONT) ELEVATION: pilastered doorway to centre, cornice and blocking course bearing tablet, recessed 2-leaf panelled door and plate glass fanlight. Regular fenestration. Large modern box dormer.

W ELEVATION: gabled, window at 1st floor.

E ELEVATION: gabled; lower 2-storey extension with secondary doorway on return to left.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: lower 2-storey extension; large modern box dormer.

Modern replacement windows throughout. Slate roof; 2 gablehead stacks to E and W. Ashlar skews. Ornamental gutterheads and brackets.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

GATEPIERS: 4 gatepiers with pyramidal coping (1 altered with remains of lamp standard), low wall to front.

Statement of Interest

Overlooking the box dormer, this is a good, dignified villa.
