Description

W L Carruthers, 1901-02. Free renaissance, Moray freestone
ashlar with base of Aberdeen grey granite, channelled ground
floor. 3 storeys and attic, Union Street front, 5 bays with
centre 3 slightly recessed; at ground floor round arched and
keyblocked centre windows recessed behind engaged columns
with polished granite shafts; at end bays doorpieces with
lugged architraves and segmental pediments; at 1st floor,
windows segmental-arched, mullioned and transomed, with
heavily rusticated lugged architraves; windows at 2nd
floor bipartite recessed behind columns and pier
mullions; at attic, 3 segmental headed wallhead dormer
gablets, centre higher with tripartite window surmounted by
oculus, outer gablets with bipartite windows, 10-bay
front to Drummond Street similar to Union Street front but
with modern shopfronts at Nos 3, 7 and 9 and all gablets the
same as centre gablet to Union Street. Bracketted cornice.
Mansard roof covered with green Westmoreland slates.
Interior of bank contains coffered ceiling.
