Late 19th century, extended circa 1905. 2-storey, 7-bay angled front bank building with modern 4-bay wing to N, on ground falling to S. Polished ashlar. Part base course, cill and string courses, mutuled eaves cornice. Round-headed, keystoned doorways; lugged and architraved windows, pedimented to ground, segmental-headed, keystoned and corniced to 1st floor.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: 7 symmetrical bays to S: centre doorcase with recessed granite columns on corniced piers flanking channelled cavetto splay, scroll consoles above flanking moulded panel with modern 'TSB' sign, cavetto corniced canopy with balustrade and flanking piers supporting obelisks; deep-set panelled timber door and semi-circular plate glass fanlight. 3 windows to left, outer bays with triangular pediments and centre with semi-circular pediment, all over moulded windowheads with circular motif; cash-dispensing machine between bays
2 and 3: bays to right mirror those to left but outer bay with round- headed, keystoned window converted from door. 1st floor with blank bay to centre and 3 corniced windows to each side. Slightly recessed modern wing to N.
Plate glass in timber sash and case windows with modern windows to N wing. Grey slates. Coped ashlar ridge stack.
INTERIOR: timber balustered dog-leg staircase with fielded timber newels, and winding stair with decorative cast-iron balusters and timber handrail; both top-lit with circular lanterns. Banking hall modern.
