Description

Dated 1763. 2-storey and attic, rectangular-plan house on ground falling to S. Rubble with dressed quoins.

E (SAUT GIRNAL WYND) ELEVATION: boarded timber door with inscribed lintel '17 DS ES 65' to left of centre and window to right at ground, further window to right at 1st floor. Boundary wall adjoining to outer right.

S (PAN HA') ELEVATION: windows to right at ground and to outer right at 1st floor, gablehead stack.

Small-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Pantiles. Coped rubble stack.

Statement of Interest

Cunningham refers to this as 'The Salmon House' which "takes its name from the fact that on the ceiling of one of the upper rooms there is a salmon in plaster relief". By the beginning of this century it was known as the 'Salmon Fisher's Bothy'. Undergoing renovation 1997.
