William D Sang, 1899-1902. 4-arch viaduct carrying Victoria Road over wide gully and burn. Semicircular arches with bull-faced ashlar piers, abutments and spandrels, and contrasting brick arch rings. Corbelled to low ashlar-coped parapet.
Proposals for a bridge over the Den Burn were under way as early as 1897. Built on concrete foundation of 10' x 40', the bridge was anticipated to be "of 4 arches, each 50' span. The greatest height above the burn being about 85'. The width of the roadway and footpaths, between parapets, is to be 36'. To be build entirely of good free-stone with the exception of the arches which are to be of brickwork". By 1900 it was realised that extra width was required and this was achieved by corbelling.
