Circa 1825. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay symmetrical, rectangular-plan house, abutting Number 3 Palace Road to rear (S), (listed separately), with central tympany gable and flanking gabletted dormers, breaking eaves. Harled. Concrete cills.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: doorway infilled as window at ground in bay to centre; window at each floor above; gablehead stack to tympany gable. Window at each floor in each bay flanking.
E (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay. Window at each floor in bay to right; modern part-glazed door at ground in bay to left; winodow at 1st floor; gablehead stack above.
W (SIDE) ELEVATION: 2-bay. Window at each floor in each bay; gablehead stack above.
Variety of glazing patterns including, 12- and 9-pane timber sash and case windows. Replaced, traditional, graded stone tiled roof; harled, corniced stacks; cast-iron rainwater goods.
INTERIORS: not seen, 1998.
Built circa 1825 for Hay of Elrick who had purchased The Ludge property (to the E) in 1823. Sited prominently on the corner of Palace Road and Broad Street, further distinction is given to this building by the unusual tympany gable to the main elevation.
