Description

Sir George Washington Browne, architect. Built 1907.
English Cotswold tradition. Asymmetrical, 2-storey 3-bay
former bank. Coursed ashlar with polished dressings.
Depressed arches over doors and windows in centre and
left bays. Pair of central recessed doors each with
moulded reveals in square panels and supporting entablature:
that to right has carved spandrels, frieze decorated with
cockle shells and square floral panel above.
1st floor mullioned window over left door. Gabled right
bay with base of wallhead stack at left has pair of tall
6-light corniced mullioned and transomed windows to ground
floor. 2 corniced mullioned windows above. Plain leaded
glass panels throughout. Cornice, and prominent deep gutter.
Tall, slender, corniced, diamond stacks on gabled plinths
placed at foot of skews; finialed gables. North elevation:
tall, mullioned and transomed window at ground floor,
2 single lights above. West elevation: 2 advanced gables
with mullioned windows and stacks.
Slate roofs.
