Description

Dated 1872. 3-bay rectangular-plan hall, with simple Gothic detail, extensions over main door and to rear, adjoining No 13 in irregular terrace to E. Aberdeen bond whinstone to S and W, squared and snecked whinstone to N and E; contrasting long and short sandstone quoins, base course and moulded string course/hood-mould; main door with masque label stops, quatrefoil window and date plaques in S gable (18 - 72).

S (HIGH STREET) ELEVATION: gable end with arched door at centre flanked by full-height arched windows, 2 further, irregular square-headed doors to E; rendered extension over with pitch roof and central square window; quatrefoil window in circular moulding above with ball finial at apex.

W ELEVATION: on steeply falling ground, 4 windows with smaller window at outer right, blank wall at outer left; external stair leading to rendered square porch extension below N window.

N ELEVATION: rendered flat-roof extension to full width, approximately gallery height, circular opening in gable.

E ELEVATION: 2 window bays with red brick stack between.

Small-pane glazing pattern in original building, intersecting tracery at apex of main front arched windows. Grey slates with stepped ashlar skews, square skewputts and coped ashlar stacks. Moulded eaves guttering with decorated brackets and rainwater hopper.
