Mid 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay L-plan classically detailed house built as Free Church Manse; square-plan, piend-roofed outbuilding at NE corner of site. Squared and pinned whinstone, contrasting droved ashlar long and short work quoins and window margins; main elevation base course.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Central deep-set door with plain cornice and pilasters, 4-pane-effect glazed fanlight; windows in flanking bays with stop-chamfered arrises, regular windows at 1st floor.
N (ROAD) ELEVATION: projecting bay at right with blind north face, entrance in east face of single storey lean-to on return wall; windows to right at both floors. Exposed north face of main building with large modern stair window over lean-to roof, small 1st floor window immediately to left.
W ELEVATION: irregularly spaced windows, 1 at ground, 2 at 1st floor.
E ELEVATION: blank.
Sash and case windows throughout all with small-pane glazing pattern except ground floor front and stair windows with plate glass glazing. Graded grey slates, piended roofs with coped wallhead stacks to E and W, central stack in projecting bay, some cans.
GATEPIERS AND BOUNDARY WALLS: pyramid capped droved ashlar gatepiers with chamfered arrises; coped, random rubble boundary walls to NE and South.
John Gifford describes Mansfield as "a row of comfortable early 19th century houses", this being the exception built to be a Free Church manse (therefore post 1842 Disruption).
