Statement of Interest

This house which once belonged to the Shoemakers' Guild, has been rebuilt by the Town Council. The Guild, which incorporates other leather crafts and the Tanners, serves as a reminder that the leather trade, said to have been introduced by Cromwell's soldiers, was once the staple industry of the town. Listed category B for historical importance.
