Description

Robert Stevenson, 1818. Circular stone tower, harled and painted. Windows on 4 levels facing seawards, doorway on N side. Tower tapers to gallery on cast-iron ring, balustrade, lantern in octagonal housing with ogee roof and ball finial. 8-pane timber sash and case windows on upper 3 levels.

Statement of Interest

Originally one of a pair of harbour lights marking the route into the River South Esk and up-river quays. This is the inner light, the outer tower is now reduced to 4 base courses.
