Description

Richard Park of Newon Stewart, architec, 1875.

Octagonal gothic monument in 4 decreasing stages.

Polished ashlar with colonnettes of finely dressed pink granite. 1st stage has buttresses flanking inscribed panels with gablet pointed-arched surrounds. Buttresses support lions sedant bearing shields and lances. To 2nd, octagonal ashlar drum with cornice. This supports tall shaft with 4 engaged colonnettes at compass points. Elaborate octagonal frieze over this with projecting gargoyles. To 4th stage, spirelet with miniature lucarnes; cross finial at apex.
