Description

Dated 1879. John Hutchison, architect Baronial. 2-storey and
attic, asymmmetrical house. Snecked and stugged ashlar with
polished dressings. Irregular 3-bay front elevation (east)
with drum angle tower at left and bartizan with conical
roof at right. Outer bays gabled, left one with round
headed doorpiece with cable moulding, corbelled oriel to
1st floor and attic window with cornice. Right bay has
canted window to 2 storeys corbelled to square at attic.
Angle tower is corbelled to attic with stylised gunloops
and gabletted dormer raised through eaves of conical slate
roof. Carved decoration over attic windows and central
ground floor bipartite. Other elevations marred by later
additions. Advanced wallhead stack with date panel to
south elevation. Slate roofs with crowstepped skews, bold
wallhead and central stacks. Interior much altered but
fine banister and stained glass to hall, and some
plasterwork to ceilings and mouldings survives.
