Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey range comprising shop flanked each side by dwelling. Dark whinstone street frontage, coursed rubble return S elevation (no 17), tooled ashlar dressings.

NO 17: irregular 3 bays; doorway with letterbox fanlight flanked by windows; 2 slated and piended dormers break wallhead.

NO 19: gabled bay with centre entrance flanked by original shop windows and canted angle bay, also with window. Pair of small windows in 1st floor gable.

NO 21: L-plan with entrance in re-entrant angle; letterbox fanlight; ground and 1st floor windows in projecting gable; single gabled dormer breaks wallhead. Low coped rubble wall encloses front garden.

Timber sash and case 2- and 4-pane glazing; plate glass in shop windows. Coped end and ridge tooled rubble stacks; flat skews; slate roofs.

No 17 opens to pedestrian path linking South High Street with Hill Street.
