Description

William Robertson, Elgin, 1839, after design by John Smith, Aberdeen. 2-storey, irregular 3-bay gabled house. Mixed granite rubble, tooled sandstone ashlar dressings. 3-bay S front with projecting gabled bay at SW and projecting single storey square porch masking entrance in re-entrant angle. Round-headed doorway and stepped parapet to porch. Deeply chamfered SW angle at ground floor height only, faced with tooled ashlar sandstone. Further entrance in W garden front and rear service entrance. 1st floor windows just break wallhead under gables; 4- and 12-pane glazing. Coped end and ridge stacks; slate roofs.

Rear steading/stable range somewhat modified with blocked doorways and garage entrance slapped in E facing gable.

INTERIOR: simple interior; plain white marble chimneypiece in drawing-room; plain balusters to staircase.

GARDEN WALLS: coped rubble walls to W and S.
