Description

2 Late 18th century houses forming an L-plan.

84 DUNDAS STREET: 2 storey and attic, 3-bay, asymmetrical rectangular-plan crowstepped gabled house forming E-W range of L-plan block, with gabletted dormer and stop-chamfered western angles. Harled; harl-pointed rubble to rear. Painted cement margins to openings.

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: stone flight to sunken architraved doorway at ground, offset to right of centre; part-glazed timber panelled door; enlarged window at 1st floor; gabletted dormer, breaking eaves above. Window at 1st floor in bay to left. Window at ground in bay to right.

W (SIDE) ELEVATION: 3-bay with window in place of original door to centre at ground; window at ground and 1st floor in bay to left; attic window to right; gablehead stack above.

N (REAR) ELEVATION: irregularly fenestrated with window clustered to centre; blocked doorway to right of centre.

Variety of glazing patterns including 12-pane timber sash and case windows and 2-pane timber-framed windows with top-hung lights. Purple/grey slate roof; stone ridge; slate to dormer; harled corniced gablehead stacks to E and W; concrete skews to gablets; uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.

86 DUNDAS STREET: 2 storey, single bay (2-bay at ground) house forming N-S range of L-plan block. Cement-rendered and lined.

W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: timber door with small pane letterbox fanlight offset to left at ground; window, offset to right; centred window at 1st floor above.

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Modern grey slate roof; stone ridge; tall harled corniced gablehead stack to N; common ridge stack to S; replaced concrete skew to S; uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.
