Description

Earlier to mid 19th century with later alterations and additions. 2-storey 3-bay (5-bay at ground) rectangular-plan house with single storey pitched addition to left (S), forming W side of small square. Cement-rendered and lined.

E (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: deep-set, part-glazed timber panelled door with small-pane fanlight at ground in bay to centre; blank round-arched panel above; window at 1st floor. Window at each floor in bay to right. Blocked window with former shop windows flanking at ground in bay to left; window at 1st floor above. Blocked doorway with picture window flanking to left in pitched addition to outer left.

12-pane timber sash and case windows at 1st floor; 2-pane and shop windows at ground. Grey slate; stone ridge; concrete skews; harled coped gablehead stacks to N; corniced to S. uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.

Statement of Interest

Recorded as being the property of James Sinclair Gray in September 1897, who applied to alter the building to be used as a shop and dwelling house.
