Description

Thomas Telford, circa 1840. Canted terrace of 2-storey, 3-bay, square-plan, gabled town houses. NE facing onto Argyle Square. Squared and tooled, long coursed Caithness stone slabs. Regular fenestration, irregular to rear.

NO 30: PRINCIPAL ELEVATION: steps to timber panelled door to right. Ashlar window dressings.

N0 31: PRINCIPAL ELEVATION: door to left. Small gabled dormer to right.

NO 33: PRINCIPAL ELEVATION: door to left, additional window flanking to right. Small gabled dormer to left.

INTERIOR: not seen 2001.

Modern tilt-and-turn windows, except sash and case to 32. Grey slates, lead flashing. Coped gable stacks with string course. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

The Group listing is in recognition of the exceptional group value of these buildings as the core of Thomas Telford's 1809 scheme for the new town plan of Pulteneytown for the British Fisheries Society.
