Description

Later 19th century. Single storey and attic, 4-bay rectangular-plan kennel. Squared and snecked stugged sandstone with droved ashlar dressings.

SE ELEVATION: 2 bays to centre under gable with boarded doors to each bay with window between to attic. Window to outer bays.

NW ELEVATION: gabled 2-bay group to centre with window in each bay and window at 1st floor inter-bay above. 2 boarded doors to each of outer bays.

Slate roof with exposed rafters and wallhead ashlar stack to centre of rear elevation.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.

BOUNDARY WALLS: whinstone and sandstone rubble with rounded coping, to forecourts.

Statement of Interest

The kennels are listed within a B Group, along with the principal gate and the surviving buildings on the Langton estate, which has lost its house and single ownership. The kennels lie to NW of kennelman?s house (listed separately).
