Description

A N Paterson 1923. Symmetrical, green bull-faced squared and snecked substantial stone memorial tower of square plan. Battered base, diagonally placed buttresses at corners with white marble plaques of Second World War deceased added to each, round corners above. Green slabs with inscriptions to each face, that to E recessed over white marble plaque. Bracketted ledge over with tall round-arched recess above containing contrasting granite stone cross relief. Stepped pyramidal top surmounted by small stone cross.

Statement of Interest

On the 23rd August 1922, the Committee in Charge of the Arrangements applied to erect a war memorial in Kinloch Park, resulting in this unusual and substantial design possibly influenced by J T Rochead?s Wallace Monument at Stirling.
