Later 19th century, post 1865. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan gabled villa with jamb at rear. Whinstone and sandstone rubble with harl pointing, rusticated sandstone margins and dressings, bull-faced rusticated quoins; chamfered arrises. Base course; advanced eaves, exposed rafters.
SW (MAIN) ELEVATION: advanced gable to outer left, full-height canted window, moulded dividing cornice, half-conical slate roof. Gabled, lean-to porch facing SE in re-entrant angle, advanced eaves, finial. Block to outer right with gable breaking eaves, tripartite window at ground, round-headed window in gablehead.
NE (REAR) ELEVATION: L-plan, gabled jamb to outer right with single storey lean-to block at ground; single storey lean-to block at re-entrant angle.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows on main elevation; 8-pane sash and case window at rear. Grey slate roof, lead flashings, rooflights; corniced, ashlar ridge stacks, octagonal cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
COACH HOUSE: rubble, gabled, rectangular-plan outbuilding; boarded hay-loft door, boarded coach door.
BOUNDARY WALL AND GATEPIERS: whinstone wall with harl pointing, whinstone boulder coping. Stucco gatepiers with stop-chamfered arrises and pyramidal cap.
The house was built in the later feuing of lands in the Cove and Kilcreggan area. It shares features with other shore-side villas, including Claremont, Holyrood and the Kindergarten.
