Description

Earlier to mid 19th century. Cartshed with granary above, 5-bay. Random rubble, roughly squared sandstone quoins, ashlar dressings with chamfered reveals at ground. 5 segmental-arched cartshed ports to S under 5 boarded granary openings. To N elevation, stone stairway to granary door at E end with 4 boarded granary openings.

Piended roof, red pantiles.

Statement of Interest

The "fermtoun" of Byres is of considerable antiquity, and in its present form with farmhouse, cottages, older steading, newer steading, and ruins has much of interest, although there has been considerable alteration. See also listing for Byres Tower.
