Description

Early 19th century. Circular-plan rubble sandstone doocot with ashlar rat courses, eaves course and cornice. Now partly ruinous. Pantiled single storey (later?) addition to N. Most ashlar nesting boxes in place. Roof no longer in place (since 1937).

Partly ruinous. Boarde up entrance to NNE.

Statement of Interest

The doocot stands to SW of the farmhouse (listed separately). It might have been affiliated with 'Kirkmore' shown approximately on this site on Roy's map (W Roy 1747-55). Photographs of circa 1900 show an ogival slate-roof with piend-roofed dormer comprising 4 tiers of flight ledges and flight holes.
