Early 20th century with later alterations. 2-storey, 2-bay villa. Bull-faced squared and snecked cream sandstone with polished red sandstone ashlar dressings; harled SW elevation. Base course, slightly raised quoins.
SE ELEVATION: gabled bay to left slightly advanced with half-piended 3-light canted window at ground with window at 1st floor above. Half-piended 3-light advanced window at ground of bay to right with window at 1st floor above breaking eaves and with gabled dormerhead. Single storey porch in re-entrant angle formed with advanced gable of NE elevation, with door visible recessed to outer right of SE elevation; boarded door with wrought-iron hinges, plate glass letterbox fanlight above, and mullioned and transomed vestibule window, gable above; window at 1st floor above, breaking eaves with gabled dormerhead.
NW ELEVATION: border-glazed stair window to centre; harled single storey addition at ground to centre, with red sandstone bull-faced dressings.
6-pane upper case, 2-pane lower case, timber sash and case windows; multi-pane upper and plate glass lower cases to ground floor windows. Slate roof with exposed rafters at eaves. Wallhead polished red sandstone ashlar, coped stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1995.
BOUNDARY WALL, RAILINGS AND GATEPIERS: boundary walls of bull-faced sandstone with coping, surmounted by decorative wrought-iron railings. Cast-iron panelled gatepiers to pedestrian entrance; stop-chamfered ashlar gatepier to vehicular entrance with pyramidal top.
Russell Place was not defined as a road in 1897, and no buildings had been erected there.
