Circa 1770. Former estate boundary wall, now breached in 4 places, and flanked to either side by new housing. From Regents? Way (at NT153 838) in N, to St David?s Harbour (NT150 824) in S. High rubble (approx 6?), with rubble cope. Iron track to parallel, continuous railway in railway cutting.

Statement of Interest

The original early wooden waggonway of the Fordell railway connected collieries at Crossgate to St David?s Harbour, where there were saltpans and brickworks. Iron rails were fitted in 1832-3. The railway closed in 1946.
