Description

Circa 1890. 2 storey and basement, 8 bay symmetrical, terrace of houses with eclectic details. Cream sandstone coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. Base course; cornice to ground floor windows in canted bays; overhanging, dentilled eaves; decoratively carved bargeboards to gables.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: steps to recessed doorways in central bays and to penultimate left and right; 2 leaf panelled doors; small paned stained glass fanlights to Nos 8, 9 and 10; plate glass fanlight to

No 11; shouldered arched architraves and corbelled pediments to doorpieces; single round arched windows to 1st floor above. Full height, 3 light canted windows to remaining, gabled bays.

W ELEVATION: bipartite window at ground to central gabled bay; tripartite stair window between floors above; single windows to both floors to gabled bays to outer right and left. Modern garage insertion to basement.

E (MCLAREN ROAD) ELEVATION: bipartite window at ground to central gabled bay; tripartite stair window between floors above; bipartite windows to both floors in gabled bay to outer right; single windows to both floors in gabled bay to outer left.

Plate glass, timber, sash and case windows. Grey slate pitched roofs; corniced wallhead stacks; coped ridge stacks.

INTERIORS: not seen 1996.

BOUNDARY WALLS: low coped boundary wall to street; replacement railings.
