Description

Circa 1840 for Nos 156-166 (even nos), converted to chambers 1878. Originally a terrace of 2-storey and basement 3-bay houses with 2 5-bay flatted end pavilions raised to 3 storeys (and listed separately). Later attics. 15 bays. Painted ashlar. Basement mainly altered. Ground level band course. Nos 156-164 coupled entries (1878) each at head of stair oversailing basement area, consoled, dentilled doorpieces. No 168 original console corniced entry with window altered to bow at left. Sash and case windows in architraves, with panelled aprons at W end. Ground floor windows corniced.

INTERIOR: Includes hall screen in No 168.

Nos 152-4 and 176-178, the pavilion ends, are facsimiles and are listed separately for their importance to the overall terrace.
