Early 20th century. 2-storey, 2-bay, asymmetrical distinctive Free Style house. Part ashlar, part harled, deep base course, overhanging eaves, varied margins, stone mullions and transoms. Mock timber framing in gableheads.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: bay to left advanced, full-height canted window, plain panel above 1st floor window, bracketed gable at wallhead with decorated bargeboards, timber brackets on stone corbels supporting projection over canted bay. Bay to right, tripartite at ground floor, bipartite at 1st floor breaking eaves with shaped ashlar gable.
S ELEVATION: gable end, harled, shallow advanced section, central entrance in ashlar surround, panelled double doors, 3-light rectangular fanlight, shallow hoodmould and architrave, corniced gablet at head of panel. Circular 6-pane window at 1st floor above. Projecting gable head, with decorated barge boards, timbering supported by stone corbels. Ashlar coped dwarf wall to right of door.
N ELEVATION: gable end, harled, 2-bay, door to centre, window to left, 2 windows at 1st floor above, ashlar quoins to right, harled wall abutting corner to left.
E ELEVATION: harled, ashlar transomed and mullioned bipartite to centre at 1st floor, window breaking eaves with gable to left, harled lean-to built against bay to right.
Varied plate glass and multi-plane, timber sash and case windows, stained glass at 1st floor E elevation, grey slate, harled ridge stacks to N and S, shouldered stack breaking eaves to right, E elevation, cast-iron downpipes.
INTERIOR: inner porch to main entrance, panelled with frosted and etched glass.
BOUNDARY WALLS: rendered, coped garden screen wall abutting S gable end to right of entrance door and on ashlar dwarf wall. Rendered brick and rubble stone boundary wall to S and E, brick boundary wall to N. Later brick gatepiers and outbuildings.
The design boasts touches of Queen Anne, Old English and Elizabethan styles in its free cocktail.
